World Surf League – A wave of animated 30-second spots for the global #StopTrashingWaves campaign

#StopTrashingWaves is more than a hashtag. It is a movement in the fight against climate change and ocean pollution. We had the great honor of supporting this global World Surf League campaign with a series of animations.

The films are designed to raise awareness of environmental issues and motivate people to take action against the climate crisis. WSL leads by example: reducing its own carbon footprint, eliminating single-use plastics at all surf events and leaving every coastline better than it was found.

The storyboards for the series were developed in close collaboration with the WSL PURE team in Los Angeles — the philanthropic arm of the World Surf League, dedicated to Protecting, Understanding and Respecting the Environment.

For the design, we chose an illustrative 2D style. And because we love colorful worlds, waves can be purple, beaches pink and clouds rose. After all, we don’t want to paint climate change entirely black.
